ECM
Integration
RSME
is tightly integrated with the Scientific Software Enterprise
Content Manager (ECM) repository, which means that it can
leverage rich ECM functionality such as powerful indexing
and search, access control, versioning, electronic signatures,
records retention, archival and backup, and collaboration
through global web access. This means that the ECM repository is
ensuring your spreadsheets remain secure and that your financial
data is managed with the highest level of file integrity and
trust.
Ease-of-Use
Implementing
a corporate wide solution for managing and remediating Microsoft
Excel spreadsheets and other financial data is only effective
when accepted and fully-leveraged by end users. RSME allows
users to interact directly with spreadsheets stored inside the
ECM repository through the native Microsoft Excel user
interface, lowering the technical barrier for enterprise
rollouts.

Cell-by-Cell,
File and System Audit Trails
When operating in a regulated environment, managing and
understanding the differences in the different versions of
spreadsheets, including who made changes, when they were made,
the nature of the changes, and reason for them is essential.
RSME generates file level, system level and even a unique,
cell-by-cell audit trail to track changes to financial data,
even if those changes were made via links to external databases.
The
audit trails are computer generated, time stamped, encrypted,
and cannot be edited or deleted by end users. The cell-by-cell
audit trail records changes to each cell of each worksheet in
the spreadsheet including cells where contents change as a
result of a new calculated value, and changes to formulas and
macros. All entries include the date / time, the user name, the
name of the sheet, the original cell value, the new cell value,
a system reason code and a user-entered reason code.
Process
Automation via BPM
To help speed review and approval cycles, RSME incorporates
powerful audit trail searching and filtering, a powerful
differencing tool for visually identifying changes between two
versions of a spreadsheet, and audit trail export (to XML, .csv,
or .txt formats). Seamless integration with the Scientific
Software BPM solution allow spreadsheets to be routed for
approvals, electronically signed and published to a secure
location. Email notifications, automatic file movement, archival,
records retention policies, and other process automation
activities are also supported.
